"The process of painting is a very important part of my work. For me, the journey from conception to completion is as important as the finished piece. The process for this series started in Florence, Italy. While I was in Florence for 6 weeks, I did not paint. I submerged myself into day-to-day life, eating, looking at artwork, walking, taking inspiring pictures, and eating some more.

It was not until I returned home, that I started working on trying to express the experiences I had in Italy. I began each painting reflecting on a day or single moment I experienced in Florence, then built off that memory. I never knew where the painting was going to lead me; never knew what step two would be until I completed step one."
